Family Field Day with Unplug Illinois - 7.11.26

Time: 10:00 AM

Location: Deerpath Community Park

Join us for our Unplug IL Family Field Day, part of a statewide initiative led by the Illinois Park and Recreation Association to encourage individuals and families to unplug from screens and reconnect with recreation, nature, and community.

On Unplug Illinois Day, park and recreation agencies across the state host events that inspire residents to step away from electronic devices and “plug into” play, creativity, and outdoor experiences.

The City of Lake Forest Parks & Recreation Department is proud to bring this initiative to life locally through a full day—and week—of community-centered activities.

Kick off the day at Deerpath Community Park with a fun-filled morning of:

  • Relay races and family competitions
  • Kickball games for all ages
  • Two inflatable obstacle courses (75’ and 45’)
  • Open play and interactive activities

Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Kemper Sports, and Snowie will be on-site serving snow cones.

Lake Forest Open Lands Association will be on site to bring their conservation work to life - showcasing outdoor programs, sharing easy ways to get involved, and connecting you with nature in meaningful ways. Stop by to chat with their environmental educators and explore a hands-on display of fascinating native wildlife artifacts and activities.

Continue the day by visiting the Lake Forest Library for their outdoor reading event:

Unplug & Read - LF Library Community Partner Event (12-2 pm)
Register or drop in, bring a book or borrow one from the Library, and get comfy on the lawn or in the newly reopened courtyards for a community read-in! Enjoy light refreshments, visit the City of Hope table for wellness information, and take a real break from your phone as part of Unplug Illinois, which encourages us all to unplug from our electronic devices and plug into play, creativity, friendship, adventure, and family.
